Compton Ladies' College was founded by the reverend Joseph Dinzey in 1874. A girls' school, the College was managed by a corporation composed of the Bishop of the Diocese of Quebec of the Church of England and four other members appointed by the Synod of the Diocese. It reopened in 1886 under the administration of Reverend George Herbert Parker and a new corporation presided over by the Bishop of Quebec.

In 1902, Gena Smith, the Headmistress, reorganized the school on the model of British ladies' schools and had its name changed to King's Hall to mark the coronation of King Edward VII of England, which took place on the 9th of August of that year. A new corporation, formed of the Bishop of Quebec and twelve other members, was established. Through the years, King's Hall expanded its buildings and modified its philosophy of education to suit the needs of a modern educational institution. Girls from different countries and across Canada attended.

After world war I, King's Hall became a world-renowned girls' school, attracting girls from many noble European families, including the Nobel family. King George VI and Queen of England came to Compton in 1939 and celebrated with King's Hall’s students at coronation ceremonies.

Queen Elizabeth's sister, Princess Ann Abel-Smith, attended the school from 1942 to 1944. Her grandmother, the famous Princess Alice and her husband, the Earl of Athlone, Governor General of Canada from 1940 to 1946, visited the school during both years.

一战后，King's Hall 成为全球知名的女子学校，吸引了包括诺贝尔家族在内的众多欧洲贵族家庭的女孩前来就读。英国国王乔治六世夫妇1939年来到Compton，与King's Hall 的女孩们一起举行庆祝仪式。伊丽莎白女王的妹妹Ann公主，1942年到1944年在此就读。她的祖母，著名的Alice公主和丈夫Athlone伯爵（1940-1946担任加拿大总督）每年都到学校来访问。

为了适应新式混合教育时代的到来，King's Hall 和附近的姊妹男校Bishop’s College School合并，成为加拿大第一所男女混合学校。BCS也因此成为加拿大排名Top5的顶级贵族私校，200多名在校学生来自世界各地。

合并后，King's Hall 成为加拿大唯一一所能够同时颁发BC省、安大略省、魁北克省高中毕业证书的学校，King's Hall的学生完成了指定课程后，将获得三省高中文凭，使其申请顶尖大学具备更多优势。

崭新的King's Hall (Redtail Campus) 占地面积达到450英亩，这是加拿大规模最大的顶尖私立学校。King's Hall (Redtail Campus) 将在2022年正式面向全球招生。
